Observations: The Artwork of John Sterner

Oct. 12 – Dec. 1

Lakota artist John Sterner suffuses his art work with the experience of life and nature. More than fields, trees and sky his plein air works capture a moment in time as translated by the artist. This exhibition is in conjunction with the recent installation of Kiciuzapi, Sterner’s newly donated
sculpture found in the Ornamental Grass Collection. Venture out to see this piece that captures the essence of joy.

Don’t miss the “artists talk” at Kiciuzapi at noon on Sunday, Oct. 17 (PLEASE NOTE NEW DATE!), Ornamental Grasses Collection.  No registration required (but a reservation to the Arboretum is necessary).

Patterns in Nature

14th Annual Juried Show and Sale

Café Gallery – Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

December 4, 2021 – January 24, 2022

While exploring this year’s APS show, take note of the visible regularities of form found in the natural world. Each participant worked to find these patterns and express them in an artistic manner. Early Greek philosophers along with mathematicians and scientists through the ages have worked to understand natural patterns.  This show provides the viewer an opportunity to hunt for the symmetries, spirals and tessellations which Mother Nature provides (Photo:  Autumn Leaf by Michael Borg).
